Jal Prahari, founding note
Jal Prahari — literally, "water sentinel" — was founded on a simple observation: India talks about rivers, monsoons and groundwater every single day, but rarely in one place, and rarely with the depth the subject deserves.
We started as a small group of writers and researchers tracking government water missions, river-rejuvenation programmes and grassroots conservation work. That coverage grew into a trust: a permanent, independent home for water and climate reporting, built to outlast any one campaign or news cycle.
Today, our reporters, contributors and partners follow stories across four beats — Climate, Culture, Nature and Water — because none of these can really be separated in a country where the monsoon shapes everything from harvests to festivals.
